David pochází z New Yorku, začal studovat Shintaido v Bostonu v roce 1983. Předtím studoval Tchaj-ťi (Taiji Quan) a Karate. Stal se instruktorem v roce 1990 a instruktorem 4. stupně v roce 2016. Studoval ve Spojených státech, Japonsku, Francii a Anglii a vedl kurzy a workshopy ve Spojených státech, Itálii, Anglii, Francii, Japonsku, Maďarsku, a Česku. Je držitelem třetího danu v Shintaido Karate i Shintaido Bojutsu (umění šestistopé dřevěné tyče). Je členem Shintaido of America Board of Directors (Americká správní rada pro Shintaido), je přispívajícím redaktorem do Body Dialogue (žurnál Shintaida) a je členem Shintaido of America National Technical Council (národní odborná rada pro Shintaido v USA), European Technical Committee (odborná technická rada pro Shintaido vEvropě), a International Technical and Exams Committee (mezinárodní výbor technik a zkoušek). Mezi jeho učitely patří místři Haruyoshi Ito, Masashi Minagawa, Michael Thompson Ph.D., a zakladatel dicipliny Hiroyuki Aoki.

Tradiční čínskou a japonskou medicinu studoval v New England School of Acupuncture (Škola akupunktury Nové Anglie) a na Boston Shiatsu School and Institute of East-West Medicine (Škola šhiatsu a ústav vychodo-západní mediciny v Bostonu). Pracoval několik let jako profesionální masér a spolu s kolegyní založili společnost, která poskytovala masáže firemním klientům v Bostonu.

Tchaj-ťi (Tai Chi, Taiji Quan) se David začal učit ve stylu rodiny Yang v roce 1979 s Robertem Chuckrowem Ph.D., žákem slavného čínského mistra Cheng Man-ch'inga. Mistr Cheng se přestěhoval z Taiwanu do New York v roce 1964 a byl jedním z prvních mistrů, který učil Tchaj-ťi v USA.

David je abolvent Harvard (bakalář kultuní antropologie), Tufts School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (Akademie muzea výtvarných umění v Bostnu, bakalář výtvarného umění), a Université Paris 8 (magistr digitání kultury a komunikace). Je grafik, vizuální umělec, vidograf, videoproducent, a performér. Je člen Mobius (centrum experimentálních umění v Bostonu), spoluzakladatel Pan9 (bývalý prostor performáčních umění v Bostonu), a hrál ve kultovním filmu Neovoxer.

Originally from New York, David started studying Shintaido in Boston in 1983. Previously he studied T'ai Chi (Taiji Quan) and Karate. He became a Shintaido instructor in 1990 and a 4th-level (General) instructor in 2016. He has studied in the USA, Japan, France, and England and has led courses and workshops in the USA, Italy, the UK, Ireland, France, Japan, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. He holds a 3rd-dan rank in both Shintaido Karate and Shintaido Bojutsu (the art of the 6-ft staff). He is a member of the Shintaido of America Board of Directors, the Shintaido of America National Technical Committee, the European Technical Committee, and the Shintaido International Technical and Exams Committee.

His teachers include Haruyoshi Ito, Masashi Minagawa, Michael Thompson Ph.D., and the founder of the discipline Hiroyuki Aoki.

David studied traditional Chinese medicine at the New England School of Acupuncture and at the Boston Shiatsu School and Institute of East-West Medicine. He worked as a professional masseur for several years and co-founded a wellness services company in Boston.

David started studying Yang style T'ai Chi (Taiji Quan) in 1979 with Robert Chuckrow Ph.D., a student of the renowned Chinese master Cheng Man-ch'ing. Master Cheng moved to New York in 1964 and was among the first masters to introduce T'ai Chi in the USA.

David is a graduate of Harvard -- A.B. cultural anthropology (where he co-founded the Harvard Shintaido Club), of the Tufts School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston -- diploma of fine arts, and of Université Paris 8 St-Dennis -- M.A. digital culture and communication.

He is an award-winning video artist, filmmaker, and video producer and works as well in graphic arts, performance, music, and sound art. He is a member (on leave) of Mobius (Boston's center for experimental art), a co-founder of Pan9 (a former underground art venue in Boston), and co-produced and acted in the cult film / performance Neovoxer (dir. Michael Pope), as well as producing the Dresden Dolls' first two music videos, Girl Anachronism and Coin-Operated Boy.

He lives near Prague, Czech Republic.
